Treatment Approaches

CBT assists in a person's ability to challenge and reframe negative thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors, improving emotional regulation. It will help you develop new and healthy coping skills that target solving current distressing issues and problems.

This encompasses an understanding of a client's ethnicity, background, and beliefs. Therapists who incorporate cultural sensitivity into their work and practice, emphasize the importance of respecting the opinions, values, and attitudes of differing cultures even when it differs from their own.

Schema therapy helps those with long-term issues, those with traumas from earlier childhood. It seeks to help a client more fully understand and integrate early experiences and patterns of thinking that have caused a person to cope in unhealthy, maladaptive ways. It has been especially helpful for those struggling with depression and personality disorders.

A trauma-informed approach assists a person in gaining awareness of the widespread effects that trauma has on the limbic system, life functioning, and relationships. When we understand its impact in these areas, through a trauma-informed lens, we can begin to see and shift the role that trauma plays in our outlook, emotions, and behavior.

Dance Therapy, also known as movement therapy, is one of the expressive, creative arts therapies that highlights the connection between movement and emotion. It is the

psychotherapeutic use of  movement to bring somatic awareness to the body which holds much of our trauma. Therefore, dance therapy has the innate ability to improve intellectual, emotional, and motor functions of the body, mind, and spirit.

Strength-based therapy is a form of talk therapy, or psychotherapy, that guides you toward a retelling of your personal history of traumas, stressors, and pain with more emphasis on yourself as a survivor than as a victim, and more emphasis on your strengths and survival skills than on your weakness.
